Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor

The SERT Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor (NHN) program began as a grassroots movement. SERT’s vision is that every street will be a place where neighbors know, watch out for, and promote the safety of each other.

This occurs informally in varying degrees already, and the SERT plan is assigning Safety Coordinators, SERT’s first line of safety defense, to every street in OHCC.  Each Safety Coordinator is allocated specific houses, and it is his or her decision to cover 10 or 12 homes or take on the responsibility of more homes.

Each Safety Coordinator places great value on being knowledgeable and prepared for an eventual disaster. To succeed in this vital task, the Safety Coordinator.

  • stays connected with residents on their assigned street,

  • are mindful of their resident's safety needs and aware of issues that may affect them and

  • cognizant of beneficial resources that may prove useful and helpful to promote everyone’s safety.

Our search for Safety Coordinators is an ongoing process, and we need all SERT Club members to become involved while we simultaneously seek new members! If you are interested in being a Safety Coordinator, please contact one

Explore the various drop-down menu links under the NHN header to learn more about our Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor program and how you can get involved.
